I just finished watching The Karate Kid (2010) and just like the previous Karate Kid movies that I have seen, from The Karate Kid 1 to The Next Karate Kid, I felt really light, happy and full of hope. Yes! Those are the effects these movies have had on me. Some people may find it funny, even strange, that I feel like this, but I really can’t deny that fact! And with good reason, rather reasons, which I will list in a moment.

“You have taught me a very important lesson, Xiao Dre. Life will bring us down, but we can choose whether to get up or not.” ~ Mr. Han (Jackie Chan)

Yes, the story is predictable. Anyone will know from the beginning of the movie that the kid will win, but only after being hurt – “broken” (I notice they like to use this term in all versions of the movie) physically, specifically the leg – but I guess there This is where the moral of the story really stems from. That even if you’re scared, emotionally and physically hurt and just want to give up, the important thing is that you go ahead and fight (be it for something or someone you love) because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that You gave it all And that even if he loses, at least he didn’t give up. And with that kind of attitude, you can still say that you are a winner.

Dre Parker: Do you think I could have won?

Mr. Han: Winning or losing doesn’t matter, Xiao Dre.

Dre Parker: You know I don’t mean that.

Mr. Han: Yes. I think you had a good chance.

Dr. Parker: Then let’s do the hot cup thing.

Mr. Han: You don’t need to fight anymore. You have tried everything you need to prove.

Dre Parker: What, that I can take an easy beating and then quit? That is not balance, that is not real Kung Fu. You said that when life knocks you down, you can choose whether to get back up or not. Well, I’m trying to get back up, and why won’t you help me?

Mr. Han: Because I can’t see you hurt anymore.

Dr. Parker: Please, Mr. Han, please.

Mr. Han: Just tell me, Xiao Dre, why? Why do you need to return so urgently?

Dr. Parker: Because I’m still scared. And whatever happens, tonight, when I go, I don’t want to be scared anymore.

Everyone in this world, yes, no one is “excused”, experiences the harsh realities of life. Although it comes in different degrees, it is something that we have to deal with day after day. Some may even “break” us to the point of giving up, but I still believe that we should never lose hope. And just like the Karate Kid, never give up. We owe it to ourselves to at least try. I know it can be difficult at times, but if something or someone is really important, then risks shouldn’t be an obstacle in trying to get the most out of any situation. Because after all that has been said and done, only 2 things can happen. You “win” and actually get what you want (and of course you deserve it, as you fought for it!) OR you “lose” and consider it a “lesson learned” so you don’t make the same mistake and / or know what do the same thing next time (and finally win!). Whatever the outcome, whether you’re a “wax / wax” baby or the trendy “put on / pick up your jacket”, I think it’s actually a win-win situation, don’t you think? ?

Other lessons I learned from the movie: There is a time to act and a time to get away. It is not enough to know the movements and defeat an enemy, we must know that it is not about winning or losing, it is living respectfully, controlling oneself and not others, and treating others with the honor and decency that one would wait. back from them. And of course these things we’ve all learned since kindergarten, but sadly often neglected for one reason or another: honor your parents, love yourself and your neighbor, respect yourself and those in authority. , keep your integrity intact, be a true friend, and keep promises.

By the way, I love the fact that they chose Jackie Chan as their teacher this time. It is so perfect for the role. His philosophies on life and who he really is fit into the plot of a T. I have loved him since the Drunken Master, I love him until now. Will and Jada Smith’s lovable son Jaden (a mini Will in terms of looks and manners) is turning out to be a good actor. I saw a movie of him with his father and let’s just say some really good “acting genes” really run through his veins.
