I propose a Giant Walking Robot for border patrol and for robotic surveillance of critical infrastructure or military bases. I propose that these units operate initially telerobotically like the Predator Drones and eventually after the DARPA Challenge II fully autonomously after that technology becomes operational. Until then, these units will have command and control centers manned by operators.

Here is a simulator, which we can use for command and control rescue center:

I also propose that the feet contain hollow tubes and be made of new high-tech composites that have giant vacuum tubes that suck up sand or dirt every time you lift your feet to prevent dust from forming and reveal your positions to others. who these units are looking after. I propose that these units be coated with negative ion materials, which will also pick up any dust, sand or dirt from the surrounding ground. As the unit passes over land and changes from dirt to forest or sand to mud, the local terrain will adhere to the unit’s skin and thus maintain camouflage and change with the landscape. This feature will not be needed when the region is constant where the walking robot will be deployed.

Walking technologies are used in forestry to cause minimal damage to the forest. With this walking unit, downed airmen can be rescued undetected and without risking additional people. The area where the pilot will be located will be an expandable inflatable cockpit with protection against small arms fire. A 50 caliber machine gun can also be attached if needed. Forest walking technologies have an interesting recent history.

First designed in 1991 and today, the units are tough, safe, reliable and can be made from composites, carbon fiber or a variety of materials. These units will be light, quiet, dust free and camouflaged, which changes as they go. They will be able to move through unstable terrain, forests and easily reach the downed pilot.
